I am blessed

Your spirit amazes me
Your smile can't be beat
You dance around happily.
Your giggle is sweet
My life is complete
Now that you are here
I pray that you'll always
Whisper in my ear.

I love your red hair
I adore your hands
Your warm personality
Makes me need a fan.
Your talents are numerous
Your brains beyond words
And boy when you fuss
You can change the world.

Everything about you
Is vibrant and true
There is nothing I'd change
I love that you're you.
When you call out my name
It makes my heart sing.
Sweet baby I am blessed
To be called your mommy.

He looks like he belongs

This morning as I was walking him to his classroom, he acted so grown up. When we reached the door, he ran to put his stuff in his cubby, then to the bin and started playing with the other children. He is making new friends.

It's time for this mommy to accept the fact that he is growing up. Even though he is still only 3, at times, it seems he is already 13. He wants his independence many days, yet he needs his mommy too. I guess I can go along with that.

Hopefully when he does reach the teenage years,  things will still be this way. Hopefully, he will always want me in his life.

So for  now, I will continue to let my little boy grow up, not that I can do anything about it anyway. I will continue to take him to school, walk him to class, and then leave quietly. After all, he looks like he belongs there.

Today was fun

Today was fun, we
ate chips on the couch
made noises with our mouths
and silly faces with our tongues

Today was fun, we
played bean toss and with cars
watched movies as we danced
ate an orange on the run

Today was fun, we
played with a big fat toad
rode your glider down the road
made puzzles on the rug

Today was fun, we
colored pictures with your crayons
played old man in the tub
hid in tents that we had made

Today was fun, we
cleaned our teeth with a squiggly brush
said our prayers beside our bed
read books and kissed goodnight,

Today was fun;
and then we were done.

Your First Day

Wow. I can't believe this day has arrived! It seems yesterday you came into my world and now you are entering a whole new phase of your own, pre-K.

What a handsome young boy you have become. At three you own my world with your smile. You hold my heart in your hand. What will I do the days you are away? No snacks, no wrestling on the floor, no walks or story talks.

It saddens me that you are growing so quickly, yet I can't hide how proud I am of your accomplishments thus far. I look forward to the future man you will become, but hold on to these days that you are young.

What will I do today while you are away? Ponder the many memories we've made together already, and realize how blessed I am to share this life with you. I will wait patiently, and pray until it's time for your return. I love you.

Three?

Three? wow, what is  happening?
You just learned how to hold your bottle,
and wave goodbye to me.

Three? How can this be?
It seems just yesterday you pulled up on my knee.

Three? I can hardly believe,
You just took your first step, and started saying please.

Three? How could this be so?
It seems you just turned two, it's got to be a joke.

Three?  It makes me sad to see,
My little baby boy is growing, up so quickly.

Three? Whisper this to me,
"You'll wake up tomorrow,  this is just a dream."

Three? I'm glad it isn't four,
At least I have a whole year, of threes I can adore.

I Love You My Little Three!
